Overview

The playgroup is a parent-run and parent-funded program for children ages 1 to 5. It is licensed for child care by Arlington County and the state of Virginia. During morning groups, parents take turns supervising the children. During afternoon groups, parents stay with their children for the entire play session.

Playgroups are limited to 12 children. A minimum ratio of one parent per four children is always maintained.

A.M. (9:30 a.m. - Noon)

  • Monday & Wednesday
  • Tuesday & Thursday
  • Friday

    • A.M. Groups are open to walking children, ages one to three.

    P.M. - Enrollment is available on various days and times based on interest. P.M. Groups are open to children, ages 18 months to five years. Priority is given to current members, siblings and Arlington County residents.
    Responsibilities
    Each A.M parent is scheduled to work 25% of the total session days and is assigned one of three duties on a rotating basis:

  • to coordinate an age-appropriate activity (utilizing on-site resources),
  • to provide a nutritious snack or
  • to provide a beverage & clean up the room before leaving.

    • In addition, each parent must hold an officer position and attend at least one membership meeting per year.

    ONE-TIME FEES
    $20 application fee
    $10 registration fee

    TUITION
    $25/session for 1 day a week
    $50/session for 2 days a week
